Stupid shows that we watch over and over again.

I don’t know why we girls grow up watching Disney movies and their princesses.
Ariel, Jasmine, Cinderella, Sleeping beauty and the list goes on and on.
We all know that’s not the truth. None of us are and will ever be princesses,
except for those lucky bitches who were born royalty.

When I grow up, I don’t think I’ll let my daughter watch all those shows.
Those shows portray mere lies, making us think that we’re princesses too?
What nonsense. If that’s not enough, shops like Toys R Us are making money
by selling princess dresses, crowns, slippers for young girls.

Heh, I was one of those kids who begged my mum to buy for me a princess crown,
and after some time I realised that it’s a fake crown and I’m no princess anyway.
Stupid but true.

On MTV, we watch the show My Super Sweet Sixteen from America.
Rich girls flaunt their jewellery and assets while we Asian girls watch in envy.
Their parents would do anything to make their daughters happy,
even if it means throwing a whole lot of money just for their daughter’s sweet sixteen.

What’s so glam about turning sixteen?

Well for Asian girls like us, i don’t think it’s much of a big deal.
We can watch NC 16 movies and have sex.

(The legal age for sex is sixteen right? I’m not sure either.)

But for those American girls, turning sixteen is a mfcking big deal!
They’ll want a nice bling bling dress, a famous singer/band to play at their party,
a unique theme so that people remember their party and to top that off,
a birthday gift from their parents eg. a brand new car.
This show is really shallow but we watch it anyway. Why?

Because this show attracts people like us who would envy those
girls and wish that we could be in their position.

Do you realise that we are being influenced by the west?
Or has it become a norm that we don’t know that we’ve been influenced?
